Default Making a database of files with filemaker - 07-03-2003 , 02:41 PM

I was wondering if it was possible to make a database with the link to
some files in it.

I have about 500 pdf files that I want to categorise, input keyword
and to be searchable.

I need to be able to acces to the files directly from the database
(by double clicking for exemple).

I was wondering if it is possible to do that with file maker since I
already have it. But if you know an other software that would be even
better I am ready to take any suggestion.

Thx for your help

John

Hello
You could do that with Fm6 easily.
Import a folder (reference only) and use a quicktime container field.
That's pretty cool !

a place to add multimedia content and pdf isn't considered as
multimedia so I can't add these file.

Hello
I should have said a multimedia field and inserting a file as a
quicktime even if it's not a quicktime file.
you need to have quicktime installed on your machine by the way.

for the pdf it doesn't work the same.
I used insert an object, I'm on windows and I guess this is not the same
on a mac. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Does FMP6 allow batch importing of files?
