Default layout mode - 07-12-2005 , 03:27 PM

Hi,

I just inherited a FileMaker application that our users would like to
make some changes. The people who developed it are no longer here. It
is password prected. I put in the password I got from the uers, I could
open the application, but the layout mode is grayed out. Does that
mean this password does not have enough authority to get into
development mode? Our users also would like to have some reports,
without the powerful password, would I be able to add reports?

Any help is appreciated. I am new to FileMaker.

Thanks!

Yes, it sounds like you do not have a higher or master-level password.
You will need this to access layout mode, field and script definitions.
It might be a good time to try and reach the original developer.

I think it depends on. I also met problems like this. There are always
some tricks in those old filemaker application. I have one which you
need to open it with holding CTRL+SHFT when double clicking the
filemaker files, otherwise even with powerful password, the "layout" is
still grayed out.
