Default keyboard shortcuts in calculation dialog - 03-06-2011 , 08:28 AM

In FM 11 advanced (OS X) Is there a keyboard shortcut for selecting a
field to add to the calculation. So far I have found that only
clicking on the field will add it to the calc window.

I rarely use the mouse - most of the time I simply type the Field names,
functions, etc. into the Define Calculation window

While the focus is in the list of fields, you can type the first few
letters of the field name and, once it is the selected field, use the
Insert key on your keyboard to add it into the calc.

But I'm with Harry -- I nearly always forego the use of the mouse in the
calc dialog. I type my functions, operators, and many of the fields names.

granted, typing is better faster in the long run if mastered. The mac
keyboard has no insert key. I wonder if there is an equivalent. I
have tried several key combinations.

apparently "insert" is not possible on the mac keyboard (most recent
version with built in numeric keypad.

Anybody know different from this?

Just Space works for me.

For frequently used functions, I use Typinator on Mac and AutoHotkey on
Windows.

Ok, that works! CLTR-Space is a hot key for omni focus on my mac,
which is why it was not working.

There's also a system-wide add-on called TypeIt4Me that I've been using
under Mac OS 8 and 9 for years (it came off a magazine cover floppy disk.
I know there used to be a Mac OS X version, but I'm not sure whether it's
been updated for the latest versions.

It let's you define you own short "phrases" which auto-expand when you
press the spacebar, tab key or return key. I have "e-m" auto-expand to my
email address, and others that auto-expand to the full names of the
orgaisations I do work for.
