Default Issue with Multiple Popup Lists in Find Mode - 11-26-2005 , 03:23 AM

I'm using FMP8 on a Mac and am experiencing an issue with popup lists
in find mode.

I have two drop-down value list fields... Customer & Vendor. The value
lists for each are based on separate relationships between global
fields (gCustomer & gVendor) within that table and a respective match
field in another table in another file. The drop-down value lists work
without issue in browse mode.

When I enter FIND MODE, I get unusal results...

A) If I click on the Customer field first, the drop-down value list is
correct. If I don't accept anything from that popup and instead choose
to look at the drop-down value list for the Vendor field, the Customer
drop-down value list incorrectly appears in the Vendor field.

B) The opposite happens if I swop the order of the selections, i.e., if
the Vendor field is selected first, it's list is OK, but if I choose
not to select anything from that list and go to the Customer field, the
customer field shows the Vendor value list.

C) Both value lists work correctly for the first time if a selection
from the value list is made within the field before moving to the next
field. However, if you go back to the 1st field after going to the 2nd
field, the value list is mixed up again.

I tried making the globals as calulation globals & text globals
(setting the global field with the proper value in the find mode),
neither of which worked.

Any ideas why this is happening or how it can be fixed?

Try File/Recover - save under another filename (so the original is
retained) and see if the "recovered" database has teh same problems.

Otherwise your problem might be associated with using global fields to
create relationships - a relationship usually links one or more records
from one table to a unique record in another table.

I've gotten some weird behaviors when the left side of the relationship
is changed and the record is not committed and you then try to pull
data based on that relationship. I think what you're describing is
along the same lines.
