Default IP Problems - Please Help :S - 10-24-2005 , 11:00 PM

Im currently using Filemaker Pro 7 on WinXP. When I enable Instant Web
Publishing I get an internal IP Address: http://192.xxx.xxx.x/ when I
think I shoudl be getting my real IP: http://201.xxx.xxx.xxx. When I try
to use the http://<IP>:<Port> option and its alternatives I get stuck on a
Username - Password Prompt. So my question is, where can I set up that
username and password? or where can I change the IP Address provided by
Filemaker? I am doing something wrong?

Im trying tu host and publish The database from my PC... its a small
Student Group Project for my university and we need to have other
universities access it.

Thanks in Advance =)

If you have a router, then your IP address in FileMaker is going to be
the 192.x address. On your router, you need to be sure you are
forwarding port 80 (or 591 or whatever you are using for your IWP) to
your FileMaker machine.

I am not behind a Router, thats the most confusing thing of all.. Ive
already added my port to the exceptions of Windows Firewall. Isnt there an
option to "Force IP". What other accesing options do I have for IWP? Tks.

If your ip address is 192.x.x.x and you CAN access the internet you are
behind a NAT router.

There are no exceptions. Although it is possible you are are NATed by
your ISP.

Are you using your PC at a dorm or anywhere at your university? If so,
then you are behind a router.
