Default Import Export Value Lists FMPro 11 Advanced - 09-08-2010 , 03:03 PM

I am using Filemaker Pro 11 Advanced and
I want to know how (if it is possible)
to import and export value lists from
one filemaker file to another one.

Thanks

I don't think you can do that. (apart from fysically do a copy/paste)

But have some questions about your reasoning. Generally it is bad practice
when you are duplicating value-ranges, fields, scripts. It is easy to
understand why. Say you have six files that all use the same value list.
When the value list changes you have to change it six times. A lot of work
and mistakes could easily happen. You should look into using a table using
as a source for your value list. You then need to change values only once
and all related files/tables will use that simultanous.

I think to import also value lists
shoulb be something important to add for
a new version of Filemaker.

Finally I did copy & paste.

I want to keep all files fully
independant, and that means separate
value lists; some of the are used for
websites. In case the files be used only
locally it woul be simple,

Thanks

Then at least you could create a table in each file for your value list.
Then you can create scripts in each file to import the data in the table
