Default How to turn off Event Viewer in FileMaker Console please? - 07-29-2003 , 05:26 PM

Hello, Sorry to bother you with one question:

How to stop Event Viewer in FileMaker Console please.
Is there any way to stop the FileMaker Server to generate Access log
files, error log files and information log files please? I have
already turn them off in FileMaker database( under Web Companion
configuration which I had them on before). But I still keep getting
the Access log files, error log files and information log files
everyday. We don't need those files and we don't want to clean them up
everyday. So how can I turn them off completely in FileMaker please?

Thanks a lot

Shuqian

You appear to be talking about 2 different things.

The Event Log is for FileMaker Server, and you can set it to whatever
size you like. I think we use about 1Mb, which gives enough for us
to look at problems but not be too huge.

Access.log, error.log and information.log are FileMaker web logs.
They appear on machiens which are serving web pages from FileMaker.
They are configured in Edit | Preferences | Application | PlugIns
Web Companion - there's a window for what logging you want.

Personally, I turn off information logging but leave access
and error - they are *essential* for working out what is
happening when things go wrong. As they're plain text files,
they really aren't very large and can be very useful.

Cheers
