Default Hiding a Filemaker 7 server - 08-31-2005 , 08:04 AM

Hi all,

We are in the process of moving to FM7 from FM6 / 5.5. As part of
this, we are going to have seperate developement and testing servers.
My question is this: Is it possible to hide a server so that a user
clicking the Remote button when opening a file doesn't see our
development server as an option?

Thanks
Andy

Clients using FM 5/6 will not see the FM 7 server in the list of "local
hosts". FMP 5/6 doesn't recognise .fp7 files (from my experience) so it
should not be a problem. Just don't install FMP 7 on the client
machines until you are ready to deploy FMS 7. Hope that helps.

Russell,

Thanks, but my question was once we have the 7 clients deployed, how do
I keep them from seeing my development server (which we will still be
using to do changes on before moving to a test, then production
environments).

Andy
