Hide status bar (not status area)

Is there a way to hide the status bar by using a script?

Unfortunately not, unless you can convince your users to buy a Mac, it
doesn't display the status bar.

Or possibly a little simpler: convince your users to go to the View menu
and unmark it. But, no, there is unfortunately no way to do this by script.
