Default HELP! password problem - 05-06-2007 , 10:45 AM

hallo to all of you

I developed a multi-file application in FMP5, with password protection.
Now I cannot open the files in FMP8.5 nor in admin mode nor in developer
mode, although I'm sure about the correctness of the passwords.

What is the trick to open pre-7 versions files?

Thanks.

SS

There is no trick. If there was it would make fmp a very unsafe place to
store your info. Just to make sure: you have tried Admin without password?

If you have set up your files with an ID for each record (you should have
done so) then you can build a new table. Recreate the ID, make enough
records to cover all possible id's. Then from your new table create a
relationship. If you have done it properly you can now at least retrieve the
data from your protesting file using thje replace function. You will miss
all the layouts, all the scripts, but at least you will have the data.
Remember that you need to know IF you constructed UniqueID in the first file
AND you need to remember exactly the way you have constructed them (Like
MyId00001)

Keep well, Ursus

Pre-7 had passwords, but no usernames. 7 and 8 have usernames and
passwords.

The password should be the same. Try leaving the username blank. If this
fails, try the password in both fields. Good luck!
