Default Help Link With Global - 08-14-2005 , 08:44 PM

I have a database that has a field called CONTACT CALLED. It is a
field that is an unstored calculation that calculates the CONTACT
CALLED from a link to another database. So when that link changes, so
does the contact name in the table where CONTACT CALLED is stored.

The problem I am having is that I am using CONTACT CALLED in a self
joining relationship. CONTACT CALLED::CONTACT CALLED. The
relationship is invalid.

I can't store it, I need it to change when the other database changes.
How can I do this ?

1. via script
2. can you make it a lookup? does the key in the table with CONTACT CALLED
get updated, or the key in the foreign table?
3. If you're in FM7, try doing the self-linking "downstream". F'rinstance,
if contact called is based on KEY in the foreign file, do the
self-relationship on KEY in that table, then reference the self-related
table occurrence for the data you need.

HTH.
