Default Help Creating a report - 08-16-2005 , 09:23 PM

I am trying to create a report from my database in Filemaker 7. The
report should show 10 of the 20 fields and should fit as many records
on 1 page as it can before having to move to another page. I can't
figure out how to get more than one record on a layout without making
it a portal and I doubt that it is that complicated.

Set it up as a Columnar report, or in the layout reduce the body size to
just the space needed to the fields you want to show, and then go to
Browse: View as List.

Further refinements include sliding/printing options

Indeed its not.

Start with a new blank layout. Remove everything but the body part.
Shrink the body to half an inch high. (Basically enough height for a
"row" of data), put a fiew fields on it. Enter browse mode, and under
the View menu, select view as list.

Feel free to add headers and footers and stuff back in once its clear
how it all works.

cheers

When in Browse mode, FileMaker will only ever display one record
on-screen (except obviously when viewing a layout in List or Table
views), BUT change to Preview mode or print out the layout and you'll
see more records on the page - at least you will if the Body part of
your layout isn't full page height or taking up too much room to fit
two records on a page.
