Default Formatted eMail - 10-18-2006 , 08:01 PM

how does one send a formatted email message... e.g. logo, bold, colors, etc,

I can probably do it with a script that builds an HTML message,
but a lot of work and not possible to be sure it works everywhere.

"Formatted" emails are HTML emails, so the only way to do it is use a
script or Calculation field to store the HTML code ... and that's
assuming that your email application can handle being given a maessage
by FileMaker that's in HTML code (some simply disply the code itself
rather than rendering it).

I 'found' the 'iMailer' plugin at
http://www.datadesigns.com/products/products_im.htm
and while I can't test it - because they don't provide actual code in a demo
form - I had many exchanges of explanations with them and they were quick,
precise and responsive. So, I think that's the way I'll go (after having
convinced my client).
For info, I want to send by email a 13 pages Word document not as attachment
but imbedded into the layouts. It's a complex document full of images,
formatting and some text, plus variables that I would like add in it to
personalize it for the person I send it to. I saw that 'iMailer' enables you
to make one layout per page and send in one single email the 13 layouts as
is together. So it seems it answers the question well.

Personally, I would find receiving a 13 page HTML email extremely
annoying. You would probably be better off putting those pages up as
proper website pages somewhere and then simply emailing a link to
people.

Thanks Harry for your comments that I forwarded to my client as they make
sense to me.
