Default FMPro record fields to MS Word - 10-05-2005 , 03:41 PM

What is the most reliable method to move a bunch of FMPro (5.5) text
fields of a few hundred fields into one Word document as contiguous (or
CR separated) text, without having to reformat the text in the word
document (CR,LF etc).
As far as I understand a merge document will yield one word document for
each record, which is not what I want. The Help mainly informs me how to
make an excel document when office-interoperatability is concerned.

Not sure if this will work but you can give it a try.
Create an unstored calc field which contains the fields you want to
export separated by carriage returns.
Export only that field as a tab file, since it's only 1 field you
shouldn't have any tabs in the output.
I'm not sure how FM will deal with data exceeding the 64000 characters.

I frequently export data to Excel format, and then copy-paste into Word.
You can paste to a table, convert table to text, and search-replace the
tabs.

The only glitch is when you have CRs in your fields.

The only other thing I can think of is the troi-file plugin with which
you can create text files from FileMaker data. You can create the file
from scratch and then append to it. It converts FileMaker's carriage
returns into carriage return and line feed.

Merge manager does most.
