Default FMP6 and IWP: Exporting a text file via a web browser - 04-18-2007 , 09:36 AM

I have a Instant Web Publishing running via the Web Companion on an FMP 6.0
database that allows users to connect to the database using a browser in
order to FIND specific records and generate a report of the found set data
on screen. The report is displayed using HTML in a certain format that the
user can then print.

Iım trying to figure out if it is possible for Filemaker to also save a
tab-delimited text file of the found set data to the userıs computer.
Perhaps it would be a link at the bottom of the HTML report that the user
could right-click on and SAVE AS... The text file to their desktop.

Ideas/suggestions? Thanks!

Hmmm. I think that's going to be hard, *especially* through FM6 IWP.
Closest I think you could get is to build the "export file" in a
global field via a script and, then show the result, the user would
have to highlight, copy, and then paste it it into notepad or
something to get it to their desktop. Not exactly user friendly.

Hopefully someone else can suggest something better.

Dave
