My file is in the /Library/FileMaker Server 7/Data/Databases/ folder. I have set its Group to fmsadmin and the Access to Read & Write. Also I checked the permissions for that enclosing folder and they are the same. |

My file is in the /Library/FileMaker Server 7/Data/Databases/ folder. I have set its Group to fmsadmin and the Access to Read & Write. Also I checked the permissions for that enclosing folder and they are the same. You must have the owner set to "fmserver" on both the fp7 file and the enclosing folder. Hopefully, that will sort out the strange behavior you see in the admin application. If you are running a firewall, you certainly will need to make some rules to allow FP7 traffic through. I think the relevant ports are 5003, 50003 and 50006 - but check the manual in caase I am wrong. HTH - good luck. Luke |

I am using Windows XP and firewalls are down, ports are forwarded and am using the :591. I see in this post that 'the owner must be set to "fmserver" on both the fp7 and the enclosing folder." I realize that is on a MAC but I presume the same holds true for XP. But where in the heck do I set that? I have looked at defining priveleges and do not see that. The situation is that the only way the file can be accessed remotely is if we open the server wide open to the world. thanks! |
