Default FMP, Adobe Acrobat, and Snow Leopard - 04-21-2010 , 12:21 PM

Mac, 10.6.3 and 10.5.8, FMP 8, Adobe Acrobat 8.1.6

As is stated here

http://snowleopard.wikidot.com/

these do not play nicely together.

Although I can and do use the Save as PDF option on Snow Leopard, the
resulting PDF is more than 9 MB (14 page report) but if I print-to-pdf
the same thing on my 10.5 laptop the file is barely over 1 MB. I have
resorted to reprinting my huge files to PDF on the laptop as my only
alternative so far.

Has anyone found a solution to this? Will an Acrobat upgrade yield
anything better? Your experience please.

As always, thanks in advance.

I see no one has jumped in here. So that begs the question:

Is it because no one else is having this problem (although I have seen
some Web discussions on it)

or

because no one has found a solution?

Really would like some feedback, thanks.

When you use the Save as PDF command in FIleMaker, it does not utilize
Acrobat. Large PDFs from FileMaker were a known issue back in the day.
Starting with FM 9 or 10 (don't recall which), the saved PDF files are
significantly smaller.

i remember an old problem with some fonts (Helvetica ?)

try changing the fonts of your layout.

anyway, Acrobat has nothing to do with that.

FM Pro Adv 10.0V1 produces PDFs about twice as large as
Primo PDF (a freePDF maker). Have not done many tests.
So I use Primo PDF
