I got from a friend a small file in FM7, that I opened easily and on which I made some small modifications. I then sent it back to him for him to contemplate. Las ! he could open it but in layout mode he gets the message : "This action could not be performed as this file is not modifiable". I tried to send him that file again but now 'zipped' : no luck ! What else could I suggest to him ? |

What else could I suggest to him ? Did you change the file to "read only" by accident ? Anyway, if the file is read only, you get that message. So uncheck the "read only" atribute of the file. -- Vr.groet - regards, Léon Obers Reacties per mail, vervang "invalid" door "cc" in het adres. Léon, I just got an answer from my friend : "it works great", he said. Many thanks for your suggestion which just hit the problem in the head. (though, as it worked here at home, I suppose I was not the one who made it 'read only'. So how could he ?) Remi-Noel |

Remi-Noel I've heard that in Windows simply copying a FileMaker file to a CD / DVD disc makes it "write only" even when it's copied off again. It works properly on a Mac though (obviously 'read only' if you use the file direct from the disc). Helpful Harry Hopefully helping harassed humans happily handle handiwork hardships ;o) |
