Default FM7 - Moving tables between databases - 06-27-2005 , 12:28 PM

I've just dloaded FM7 demo and am excited about being able to have more than
one table in a single database. I have a group of FM5 tables that I've
converted to v7 and naturally they all went to separate DBs. I can see and
modify the relationships OK but would like to have everything under one
roof, so to speak. Can I move the tables from their individual DBs into a
single one?

One other question; when importing data, say from a CSV file, is it possible
to import the structure also or do I have to manually create the structure
before the import?

Hello Steve

Moving tables is not a native function in FMP7. However, there is a solution
called FMRobot
which will do the job (I haven't tried it as I can't justify buying it for
the small number of databases I am running)

Regarding csv files, assuming the first row is the collection of field names
I think you can do this once per file. That is you can import into a blank
file but not into a file with existing tables, unless of course they have
the field structure already available.

Steve,

Your knowledge from FM7 will only grow when you learn to convert an old file
to a FM7-file. On top of that has FM7 a lot af new and different functions
that wll not automatically will convert in the correct way.

Ofcourse automatic conversion would be much quicker now, but in the longrun
you will gain tremendously by doing it your self.
