Default FM Pro with Frontpage - 07-08-2004 , 07:10 PM

Anyone have any experience using FM with Frontpage?

Easy? Difficult? Worth the trouble?

TIA

Brian

To achieve what outcome, as one is a database, and the other a HTML code
tool?

And version of FileMaker is probably useful info as well...

And yes, I have used FrontPage with FM 4.1, 5, 5.5 and 6 to produce CDML
format pages for use in Custom Web Publishing - I prefer DreamWeaver or a
decent text editor but FrontPage in its later versions was acceptable.

Cheers

Doh. Shoulda mentioned that. I would like to use Frontpage to build a web
page for custom web publishing of a database. It has built in database
connectivity, but I imagine Micro$oft had Access or SQL in mind as the
backend database.

Do I need to rely on CDML? Or is there something in Frontpage like CFML in
Dreamweaver . . .? Or . . .?

5.5 Unlimited . . . PC/Windows.

Thanks.

CDML is the only way to code native web access to FileMaker - it is all the
Web Companion understands...

CFML is the same type of thing, but for ColdFusion, which then handles the
access to the backend database - and as far as I know, Cold Fusion and
FileMaker don't get along,

There is a plugin for DreamWeaver that allows drag and drop creation of
CDML. There's not one I'm aware of for FrontPage in any version.

Personally, I write it all by hand, and refer to the CDML Reference database
when I get stuck. Using DreamWeaver and NoteTab Light for the most part, but
any HTML code application which has a text mode suits me fine...
