Import mapping used to be a relatively simple matter. File to file, field to field. Fields have now been replaced with tables in v7 so, I would think, importing SHOULD map from table to table, field to field. First let me say that I have been using FileMaker since version 2, so I am not a FileMaker novice. However, I have only quite recently started using v7. Now when I attempt an import, I find the import mapping is by relationship, not by table. What is the prescribed import method if I want to import data from one file to an updated version of the same file? Is there no global file to file or even table to table import mapping option? If I import into each relationship, will I not be importing duplicates for each relationship of the same records within a given table into the updated file? Someone please help me understand this particular aspect of this new FileMaker world in which I sometimes find myself lost! Thank you in advance for your replies. |
