FM 5.5 EMERGENCY - Quickguide to networking on Windows XP -

Hi all - PLEASE HELP,
Simply put, I've had an employee attempt (without my consent) to do some
improvements to the WinXP boxes that run my Point Of Sale FileMaker 5.5
systems. He has somehow disrupted networking so that I can no longer see
the databases in the Hosts dialog, thus I was hoping someone might be able
to help me by giving me a quick walkthru of how to setup a small Windows
network using two PCs, some ethernet cables, and an ethernet hub AND THEN
HOW TO MAKE SURE IT IS SETUP PROPERLY SO THAT ONE COMPUTER CAN SERVE DATA TO
ANOTHER.
I KNOW this was all working before (2 days ago to be exact) and I can not
figure out for the life of me what this genius has done to the
settings/operating system or anything else that has run me aground
currently.
I've set up networks on MAC OS X but am inexperienced at the same on WinXP
and thus need some quick help on how to get things running again. I have
tried running the wizards to set up new networks etc. and still no luck.
Thanks in advance for ANY HELP, I am in a serious crunch.
With many hopeful thanks,
