Default FileMaker Server Encryption of Data at rest on the server - 11-08-2005 , 01:40 PM

Many thanks to those who have answered my recent questions. This is a
great group.

I have a requirement to encrypt medical data while at rest on a
FileMaker 7 Advanced (soon to be 8) server on a Windows 2003 platform.

My server admin informs me that EFS doesn't work in this configuration,
that the FileMaker server can not read the data, apparently due to
attempting to read it using the users' permissions. Is there a way to
set up FileMaker server to avoid this problem?

A web search has come across the Troi Encryptor Plug-In, which looks
interesting. Can anyone report on this on a Windows server? Can it be
used with Web Publishing?

Are there server based encryption tools that work with FileMaker, i.e.
no programming involved?

Thanks!

Paul Norris
