Default Filemaker Server Advanced 8.5 Administration Console Help - 04-27-2007 , 09:22 PM

I am running Filemaker Server Advanced 8.5 and when trying to
configure via the web interface, I am getting this error : "You are
not authorized to access the Administration Console."

Why would this happen ?

Seriously. If its a 'vanilla' server odds are you just missed a step.
In particular theres a couple things you've got to do with the website
security configuration options in IIS that are crucial to get just
right, and missing them results in messages like this.

Dave

Sure can, but really, you've got the same manuals I do.

I didn't intend to be deliberately vague; but you've got to get ALL
the settings just so for each version or it fails. I tried pointing
you at the IIS settings, because that's a common place to trip up, and
its where I've tripped up in the past. But really there aren't THAT
many settings and they're easy to find in the manual.

For Server 8.0 Advanced:

http://www.filemaker.com/downloads/d...eb_install.pdf

Chapter 2,
section "Setting up the web server",
subsection "Windows IIS Settings"
Steps: 1 thru 4, particularly step 4.

In *MY* case it was the *2nd* bullet of step 4 that I missed, if i
recall correctly.

But I'd suggest reading all of chapter 2, and then all of chapter 5
which covers IIS authentication in a bit more depth, and gives you
some other options depending on what you want/need to accomplish.

Bottom line it beats me what YOU missed, and I can't recall offhand if
FMS8.5 is even exactly the same here. There were some subtle changes
along the road from FMSA7 to FMSA8.5. I couldn't find a link to a
specific 8.5 document, and my discs aren't with me here.

Your best source for the right answer is your own manual.

I hope this helps.

Dave
