1. Does a database opened in FM Server run the script that's defined
in the File Options Open/Close window?
2. Is there a way to display to the Client , what FM application
version is hosting the file?

Get(ApplicationVersion) gets the version of the client accessing the
file.

If you want the version of the application that is hosting the file,
no I don't think there is any easy way to know. But usually that isn't
something that changes much, so you could just put it in a preferences
table, or global, or something.

That's interesting - I can't seem to get the open script to run when
FM Server
opens the file.

FM Server doesn't run the script. The script is run when FM opens the
script. In this situation think of FM server more as remote file share
instead of a running instance of filemaker. (In truth its a bit of
both, but for this particular situation the remote file share metaphor
is suitable.)
