You change the databases themselves by working within them, either when they
are hosted or by taking them off line and opening them in Filemaker.
Additionally, there are three administrator files, also hosted by Filemaker
Server, for which you need to install, on a client machine, the Server
Administrator plugin, which is on the FMS installation disk. With the plugin
installed, access to the admin files is gained via Hosts-- the very top
file, next to an icon for FMS, leads to these files. They accomodate opening
and closing files, sending messages to client machines, watching server
performance, and other admin tasks, but no modifications to the files
themselves. You cannot both open these files and the hosted data files at
the same time on one client machine.

We recently installed FileMaker Server 5.5 with five (5) FileMaker Pro
6 licences.
The five workstations work well for data entry, but it is impossible
to have access to the server as an administrator (although an
"administrator" access code was established during the installation
procedure).
How can we, from any of the workstations, enter the "administrator"
mode and chage the configuration of the database?
Thank you for any help you can provide! |
