As would be a better way of organising scripts and fields - think collapsible folders. Being able to work on scrips /manipulate field relating to one particular area of my database without having to trawl through the list would speed my work up considerably. |

To have a better sight to scripts, I just made "empty" scriptlines as a name to give a header that schript belongs to a certain table. But agree, more organising tools will help greatly. ----- Table 1 ------ (empty script) script script script ----- Table 2 ------ (empty script) script script script -- Vr.groet - regards, Léon Obers Reacties per mail, vervang "invalid" door "cc" in het adres. I spend 80% of my time in Script Maker where I often have to use the application "Grab" on OS X to take a picture of a script because I need to add similar script steps to a different script. The highly educated design team at FileMaker gives me the ability to copy fields from 1 table to another (yes, I will use this) BUT where is copy & paste in scripts? |

In FM8 Advanced (I know, it's $120 more than the high price for the regular FM8 upgrade), you can copy script steps both into the same FM file and into a different one. I saw this in action last night at a user group. But it's only in the Advanced version. That version also includes two powerful debugging tools: Script Debugger and Data Viewer. If you're building a complex FM solution for yourself or someone else, these capabilities are very cool. In fact, when I saw the additional features in 8 Advanced (adding Tooltips, customizing menus and keyboard shortcuts, ability to make runtime solutions) as well as some of the smaller things in 8 Regular (drop-down value lists that work faster than snails, calendar-formatted pop-ups, typing auto-complete and so on), I sprung for the Advanced upgrade immediately. I just wish FMI would fix some of the basics...like font kerning across platforms, and taking advantage of platform-specific checkbox and radio button appearance... |
