Default Filemaker 8 Mobile - 11-27-2005 , 09:50 AM

I am thinking about giving my wife a PalmPilot for Xmas. She has to
juggle a lot of data in her nutrition consulting business. She will
need a simple database program to maintain all that data. Since I am
familiar with the Filemaker, I was thinking about Filemaker 8 Mobile.

But my question is: Can Filemaker Mobile 8 be used as a standalone
database program on a PalmPilot, or does it operate exclusively in
tandem with a PC based FM database application?

Does anyone know?

Thanks

George

The latter.

However there is a good stand-alone database program for the Palm platform,
called JFile.

I might also point out that Palm recently demonstrated a Treo running (gack)
Windows Mobile. Makes me worry about the future of the Palm OS.

FileMaker Mobile is best for very light applications such as a mileage
log or whatever. As of v. 7, you can only draw data from one table, and
calc fields cannot be transferred. Nifty in some cases, but overall of
limited use.
