Default File Maker Pro Script Help - 04-03-2007 , 04:12 PM

I am new to File Maker and have 8.5 and need help with a script that
can do the following.

I have campers that need to belong to various groups based on several
factors.

They need to be sorted into cabins based on sex.

They need to be assigned a tribe - with the number of males and
females being even in each tribe.

Within the tribe the are sorted in to Family Groups again keeping
males and females as even as possible.

Also with in the tribe they belong to teams with the teams being male
and female.

Any help would be great I will need step by step instructions as I am
Filemaker Pro Retarded.

Charlie

Sounds allmost as a classroom assignment.

Anyway I'm not going to spell it out for you, too much work for now. I will
roughly tell you how I would go about. For me it is a matter of finding
numbers.
I presume this is not the case. (It can't be)
In the table find all males, store this number. Find all females, store it.
First you have families. Each only M or F. Now divide your number of males
through the number of families. Spread out any remainder
Same for F
You now have your families.
Divide the number of families through the number of tribes and assign those
And the same for your teams

That's all there is to it. I leave it up to you to create a script. Which
shouldn't be overly complicated. Just go through it step by step. And you
will have to learn the basics. Even if I had spelled it out for you, you
wouldn't understand what I did if you didn't grasp the basics of FileMaker
Scripting.

Keep well, Ursus
