Default Extract Data From A Bound Solution ? - 08-10-2005 , 01:18 PM

I have a friend who is working with a non-for-profit group to develop a
NON-Filemaker solution for them to replace an existing bound Filemaker
application.

The developer of the original solution was given the opportunity to bid
on the contract but lost in favor of the contract winner who is
building the solution with MySQL and PHP.

The original developer is pissed that he lost the contract and is
telling his customers that for $200 he will extract their data for them
and provide them with usable data to be uploaded into the new solution.

I believe that he is doing this because he lost the bid fair and
square. Is there any way to extract the raw data from a Filemaker
solution that is bound ?

If the developper didn't remove the EXPORT command in the bound solution,
You could export the data in a format that the new solution could read.
Then import in the new solution.

If the developper DID remove the export command in the bound solution, I
think your stuck and can't retreive the data

Good luck

Claude

There's always the old "manual export / import" method (ie. printout
all the records and then retype them). \

You can often find volunteers who are willing (although perhaps not
"able") to do data entry.
