Default exporting calculated fields - 07-31-2011 , 02:32 PM

When I export a fmp v 9 data base the calculated fields export as
number fields as opposed to calculated fields. Why is this?

What do you mean that they export as numbers -- as opposed to what kind
of calc result? Are you saying the value is right but but the format?
Or the value is incorrect or not as you expected? Or...?

If you export to another filemaker database, the calc formulas should
export. However, if you export to any other kind of file, only the calc
results at the moment will export.

Because exported data, in general, is for not-filemaker software, such
as text, calc and other database tools, and they don't have calc fields
or couldn't interpret the filemaker calculcation.

If you need to export the calculcation of the calc field into a new
filemaker file, you may use Filemaker Pro Advanced to copy and paste
fields or tables from the database definitions.
