Default Easy Shortcut to FMP Server - 04-21-2007 , 05:41 PM

I have a small fm solution on a fm server. Everything is on a
macintosh. ideally, i'd like to have a shortcut or something so that
the fm client can effortlessly go directly to the solution on the fm
server. as it is now, people open their fm client, then have to click
on remote, then click on the fmp server displayed in a dialog box, then
click on the fmp file they need to work with. everyone in the office
is complaining the existing setup is too laborious, which is probably
true. is there anyway to shorten the process?

Yes, you may create a little FM calling file with no record and only 2 lines
script that says 'Open File(YrSolution)' and 'Close File' (Itself).
You put that file on the desktop of each workstation of the network. You
just have to initiate it once for all in going on all the steps you
mentionned. This has to be done independantly on each workstation.
Done.
(you may add though a few steps, to see if there is a network and issue a
message if not, and to stop the script at wish in maintaining down 2 keys -
I choose Ctrl-Shift - at start. The last helps to open that file and modify
it if needed)
