Default Drop Down List Question - 06-25-2007 , 05:28 PM

I am kind of new to Filemaker 8 and I have a question to see if
something is possible.

I am creating a shipping list that will have different types of
shipments in a drop down list.

I want to create the drop down list so that multiple items appear. Is
there a way to have the items appear line by line. for example

1 book
1 box of pencils
1 notepad

instead of in one continuing line of text like 1 book 1 box of pencils
1 notepad.

I am thinking there is a carriage return in the menuing system but i
can't seem to figure out what it is.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sheila

You can't have multi-line items in a pop-up menu or pop-up list. You
can only use single-line items in a standard FileMaker Value List
(either typed in or from a field).

This is basically a restriction by the operating system and common
sense rather than FileMaker itself (although I have seen non-standard
menu items that are multi-line in some naughty applications). With
multi-line items you would have to put a dividing line between each
value, making it look messy and take up more space.

There might be a plug-in around to do this, but I don't know of one and
I would doubt it.
