I hope someone can help me. Is there any way in FileMaker that when the
cursor is over a field a description caption appears? Example: if my cursor
is over the search button a window appears indicating "search all records"

FileMaker scripts can check if the user is holding down the Shift key
(for example), so you could have Shift-Click on a button displays a
help message while normal click activates the script.

Another way is to have a Help button that switches to a second dummy
layout that has all the buttons labelled, but can't be used for
anything. The user then clicks a button to return to the normal layout.

Of course the obvious solution is to have buttons with icons / text
that makes it easy to work out what they do. A search button taht says
"Search" or "Find" is pretty clear.
