Default damaged file question - 05-22-2007 , 04:17 PM

I have a database sitting on an old version of Filemaker 3. My
computer crashed and now when trying to open the database it is saying
I have a damaged file.

I tried to use the recovery, but then I get a message saying .FP3 does
not appear to be a Filemaker Pro 3.0 file. If this is a Filemaker 3.0
file, it must be recovered using the corresponding version of
Filemaker.

Just wondering why it is not allowing me to use the recovery?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

FileMaker files can (and often are) damaged beyond what the recovery
utility can handle. Recovery is sort of a last resort, or a convenient
way to get the most current data to migrate to your most current
backed up version.

Restore from backup. I'm guessing that you might not have one. If
that's the case, I don't know of anything else you can do to recover
the damaged file.
