Default Current date - 12-21-2006 , 08:25 AM

I have calculation which includes current day:
Birthday - Get ( Current Day )
gives me number of days. However, this culculations stands, when
current date changes. How to set up date function to change
automatically with my system date.
Thanx, Tomislav

Go into the Define Fields window and double-click that field. At the
bottom of the 'enter calculation' window click on the "Storage Options"
button. In the new window that appears turn on the "Do not store
calculation results" option. Click OK / Done to close all the windows.

Since it's now not stored, the calculation will be re-calculated every
time it is displayed / used.

One thing to be noted though, with lots of records and / or a slow
computer this field can take a while to update itself.

About 10 years ago I had a database that used a similar calculation to
work out an athlete's age as of "today". Every morning when I first
opened the database it would take around 20 minutes to run through the
re-calculation process. Of course, computers are much faster these
days, but people's ability to wait has also diminshed accordingly -
people complain about a new iMac taking 30 seconds to boot up. \

haven't see any delay, it works instantly. (iMac G5 1,8 with 768RAM)
