Default Re: Count Down Timer-THANKS! - 10-22-2005 , 07:56 PM

I'm writing this from home. Thanks to everyone for the info. Actually
Harry's first "Loop" script was exactly what I was looking for... it was
exactly what I had forgotten!

Having said that, Bill's idea about an animated GIF interested me. I'm
playing with a simple group of blocks that appear/disappear every 10
seconds.

The purpose of this is a timer that begins a countdown when some
disaster warning is sounded or a disaster occurs. Ideally I'd like to
put a "doomsday clock" in the corner of the layouts I'm using. That does
really mess up data entry on the same layout.

Actually, as I write this I'm thinking about using a Keynote
presentation instead of Filemaker.
Hmmmm?

Thanks again to all of you!
Whit Patrick

Please, no!

Can you imagine all the awful user interfaces with tons of blinking,
winking, waving and flashing button grpahics. O

Where would we be today if Apple hadn't enabled ugly desktop publishing?

Without the "blessing" of Quark existing.
("Blessing" is my way of spelling "blight") ;o)

In case you all missed my post from home, Thanks for the help! The simple
Loop script that Harry showed us in his first response was exactly what I
wanted. I have started playing around with displaying/hiding a series of
blocks on 10 sec intervals.

The purpose of this is to start a countdown for activities when a disaster
has occurred or has been announced.

I have also started looking at creating a new table just for the timer
purpose. That seems to allow entry and editing in other tables.

Thanks again!
Whit Patrick

I used to have a simple countdown timer and now I can't duplicate it in
FMP8... A function of my failing mind not a failing of FMP!

Can anyone help me? I just want to start at 2:00:00 and count backwards 1
second at a time.

Thanks
Whit Patrick
