Default Copying Layouts Between Dbases in FMP7 - 04-10-2005 , 01:55 AM

Hi All,
Is it possible to develop a Layout in dbase 1 for example and import/export
that same Layout into another dbase 2, which is an exact structural copy of
dbase 1
This way I can develop a new layout at home while the existing one remains
in production at work just collecting new records
I can't see any way of doing this - but I would think this is a common
requirement
1. One way might be to develop the Layout in dbase 1 which is a copy of
dbase 2 and then delete all records in dbase 1 and import all the records
from dbase 2 into 1 but this can be very time consuming especially if there
are multiple tables involved
2. Another idea is to keep the structure and definition separate from the
actual record data - but not sure how to do it.
How do others cope with this issue in FMP7?
Regards Ron H.

Thanks Martin,
Copy/Paste works well as long as the structure remains constant

yes: copy/paste will take over most elements.

However, I don't know at the moment whether FMP7 finally managed to copy
all elements, including e.g. parts definitions. You could check yourself
easily.
