Default Container field question related to IWP access and PDF versus DOC files - 06-07-2007 , 08:45 AM

Why can I put a Word doc in a container field and have it easily
(single click) opened via IWP but when I do the same thing with a
PDF,
I get an error message that the file cannot be found?

The DOC file doesn't seem to be treated as a download whereas the PDF
seems to be treated as a download.

Reference software:
Filemaker Pro 8.0
Filemaker Server Advanced 8

Thanks in advance for help with this.

R/Thom

misinformation.

OK, this is bizarre, yesterday the doc files also "could not be
found".

Can anyone help me with this? Do you think it's a filemaker problem
or a browser problem or a problem with the server?

The IWP web guide doesn't help. It implies there should be no
problems. It does say somehting I don't quite understand related to
the location of the source file if I choose to link to the file
instead of put it into the container field. It says that the file has
to be located in the same folder on the web as the filemaker
folder...I just don't get that. Tried putting the documents in the
same folder as where I keep the databases, but the link still didn't
show up.

FIxed by changing to IE 7--so it was a browser issue as was implied
when the DOC files suddenly couldn't be found.
