Default CD database help - 10-23-2006 , 11:49 PM

Hi everyone, I'm a new user to Filemaker and am using version 8 to try
and create a database for my collection of compact discs.

I've started using the Filemaker template but am trying to add/extend
some features that it lacks.

My first problem relates to the individual track titles and length of
time. The template only allows for 18 and I'm not able to figure out
how to add a scroll bar (if that is what is needed). I have a lot of
cds that have more than 18 songs on them. I also want a field that
calculates the total time of the disc by adding up the times of all the
individual tracks.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offerred.

Joe

I'm not familiar with the template so here goes.

What you're after is data presentation.
Create a table that contains all the track information you want to
record for each track.
Make each CD have an individual identified and have this indentifier at
the head of each of the records.
On your master page, have a portal what shows data from the table you
just created. This can display as a block with sidebars or not.
Do that and you are well ahead.

The next bit will come when you are ready...
