Default Can you make changes and update all tables - 08-23-2005 , 10:20 AM

I have a solution that is used by several users and from time to time I
like to make enhancements to the solution but I don't make those
changes on the live version. So I have a copy of the live version that
I develop on.

My issue is that when I am done, I have to get several days or weeks
worth of data from the live version into the new release. The live
version has 25 tables and exporting and importing 25 tables takes a
long time and is a pain.

Is there any other way to do this outside of creating a script to do
the export and another to do the import ?

Scripting is the way to do it, but why do you have to export and then import? Why not just import directly from the live file?

The other alternative would be to convert the solution to the data separation model, so that the interface and the data are separate, and no importing is necessary.
