Default Can I specify a value list vs a text field dynamically? (0/1) - 11-22-2005 , 04:33 PM

The enclosed items are JPG images of a layouts from two separate
tables.

1. The questions_table contains a set of questions that could be asked
of a user in another table. (there are more fields in this image, but
I cut them out)

2. The answers_table contains the questions from the questions_table,
along with fields for answers to each of the questions in the first
table. The answers will be stored in the second table. Now on to the
problem...

If you look at the 'question choices' column in the first table, you
will see that I have started to add values separated by commas. As you
might guess, I want to figure out how to show a popup menu (if text
exists in this field for that question) in the answers_table. And,
show a text field if no text exists in the field for that question, in
the answers_table.

One idea I have is to simply show a column next to the open text field
that contains value list information gathered from the 'question
choices' column in the questions_table, in the answers_table.

Any ideas? Can I do this in a better way?

I wouldn't bother - attachments don't come through to most newservers
anyway unless the newsgroup name has "binaries" in its title.

A better method is to post the attachments on your website / webspace
or use one of the free image hosting services, eg. ImageShack at
http://imageshack.ws Then you can post the links in your message.

Thanks for the help. I managed to get them up using MME encoding, but
my hope is that they aren't needed.

Wes,

Listen to Helpful Harry. No matter what you try you won't be able to upload
graphics to this newsgroup, at least not any that others will be able to
see.

Upload them to a wev server and put a link in.

Not exactly. It's your news server, not the newsgroup.

I saw the images.

It depends on your newserver and how close along the chain it is to the
server that the original person was posting to. Many newservers simply
don't bother propgating attachments in non-binaries newsgroups, so many
people simply never see them.
