Default Can I bold something if...? - 05-23-2007 , 07:50 PM

I have a inventory database in FMP 8.5 Advanced. I am wanting to know if I
had eitther a text field that contains 'No' in the field OR a numeric field
that contains '0' or is left blank is it possible to have all the field in
that partivular record be displayed in 'BOLD' text?

Thanks,

Carl

Yes. But its VERY cumbersome. Its much better to just have a message,
or perhaps have one field show up bold and/or in a different color.

To do it for all fields would require having separate calculation
fields for each field.

Agreed. Scripting or calculating a format change for every field on
the layout (see Text Formatting functions in Help) is a pain to do,
then you have to change them back when the condition is corrected.
I typically change the colored background of a single field, based on
defined driteria (see my Visual Flag demo at
http://www.VirtualVermont.com/FMP) as a single calculation. You could
easily change the background color of the entire layout with this
technique.
