Default calculate window size - 08-03-2005 , 09:26 AM

hi,

i'm trying to make new windows show up with certain dimensions. The
only way i found was to guess numbers and see what the window looks
like, then increase/decrease the numbers to get the correct dimension.
I wanted to know if there is a faster way of doing this? Can i create a
new window and then resize it to my likings and then find out its exact
height/width ? thanks for the help.

Good idea, There are a number of Get functions which will grab the size
of the current window. I suggest you set up four variables for the four
dimensions you need to specify the window and then script Getting the
sizes and Setting the variables; attach the script to a button and then
grab the size when you are happy. You could use the same technique to
save the window size so that nex time you open it is the same size
(multi-user might mess this up a bit so you would need variables for
each user) by attaching the script to a Close Window button.

One of my solutions has a number of secondary windows of varying sizes.

For each window, I created a set of globals, one for each dimension, and
named to identify it with the window.

A single script named Get Window Size determines which window is active
and sets the globals accordingly using the various Get ( Window...)
functions. If I resize or move the window, I run the script to set the new
size and position.

From there on, each time the window is opened, the Open Window script step
positions the windows according to the globals.
