Default Business Tracker question - 10-23-2005 , 11:56 AM

I'm setting up a data base for my brothers furniture rep business and
Excelisys Business Tracker will work perfect but I think I've found a
little annoying bug that I hope someone can help me get around.

Even in the original file, if I try to view a new Product that has not
registered a sale, I get the following error message;

"This operation cannot be performed because one or more required related
records are not available and cannot be created"

I've modified BT for my brothers use so that instead of the Products
section showing products, it shows data for his different manufacturers.
If I click between the different manufacturers, I get the error but
after I click "OK" in the error window, it does go to the next
manufacturer.

Is there anyone using BT that has worked around this or may be able to
help me.

Thanks for your time
Larry

I just quickly tried to create a new product in the Business Tracker,
everything works just fine. I can also go to the list view and back to
the detail view without getting any errors. I suspect you made some
changes and 1 of them wasn't correct. Trace through your scripts and
add show message script steps to figure out at what point the error
shows up. If you have FileMaker Developer or FileMaker Advanced then
use the script debugger instead.

FP,

I also thought it was something I changed so that's why I DL'ed and
tested another original file. If you start clicking through the sample
products (in either list or detail view), any product that doesn't show
a sale under the Sales tab will give the error I'm having trouble with.

I can stop the error by creating a sale for that particular product
under Invoices.

Go into layout mode.
Click on the 4 buttons.
Ungroup them (from the "Arrange" menu).
For the previous & next buttons make them run the script step go to
record / request / page previous & next.
The first & last buttons are already setup like this therefore it
shouldn't cause any errors.

FP,

I knew my fix wasn't a real fix but your's was - works great. I just
made the same change on the original file and it corrected the problem
there also.

Thanks for your help.
