Default Beware the Mac 7.0v3 updater - 10-05-2004 , 01:12 PM

Does two things wrong:

1) Searches "network" for upgrade locations. If you are on a network
(duh), this adds excessive time to look for what to update.

2) The updater log indicates that a "FileMaker.old" folder is created
to store the pre-update version.

After the installer is finished, this folder is nowhere to be found.

Apart from these two terribly obvious glitches, though, it seems like I
got updated correctly (maybe) to 7.0v3

FWIW.

The updater announces first, that it is backing up the program files
and finally, that it is removing it.

Which is different (and wrong, IMO) behavior from the 7.0v2 updater.

Sounds good to me. If something goes wrong with the update, the
installer does *not* delete the old file. But if it works, why would I
want an old version lying around that could accidently open if I
double-click an FM file? If I want to keep the old version, I'll make a
backup.
