Default Barcode Printing - 10-29-2006 , 02:39 AM

Please comment on this - what are the good barcode printing solutions,
plug-ins, problems, can this be done without a plug in, are there
international standards for the stripes or the numbering system?

Barcode input is easy, the gun simply acts as an input device, just
like the keyboard. Click inside the field and pull the trigger. I used
this for library applications, it works like a charm.

Printing is a easy as reading : you just need to get the proper font.
Now, certain persons advise to get a plugin.
You may use Google with the words 'Barcode filemaker'...

A plugin is certainly not required for printing barcodes, althouhg there
may be some cases where a plugin could be usefull. In my case, I found
that using a free bar code font - Matthew Welch's Free 3 of 9 font
(available here: http://www.squaregear.net/fonts/free3of9.shtml)- is
easy to imnplement and it works well.

There are many barcodes standards available and, as far as I know, most
scanners can be set to read at least the most common ones, UPC, code 39,
code 128, etc. If your application is for internal use only, then I
don't think threre's any reason to use UPC.
