Default Automating Kiosk Module - 10-06-2006 , 04:18 AM

Filemaker 6.0 on XP Pro OS. I'm trying to create a daily snapshot of our
main table set as a reporting data cube for the management team. This will
be a reduced record set with only the records that have been touched that
day. This will be exported into a table called "activity.fp5" which will
subsequently be imported into the table "ReportKiosk.fp5" which contains all
the layouts and scripts. After the records are imported I currently have to
open the Filemaker Developer Tool and add the tables one at a time into the
solution to create it.

Is there a way to automate/script this process?

Secondarily, I want to place this solution on an ftp site for the (remote)
managers to access. When trying to run the app remotely I am getting a 'dll
can't be found' error. Any suggestions here short of having each manager
dload the entire app to his local machine?

OK - I'll tell you what I've discovered (because no-one had anything to
contribute.)
On the first issue - No - there is no easy way to create a kiosk in FM6.
However, with 8.5 you are able to save the kiosk definition and re-load for
subsequenst builds of the kiosk.

Issue 2 - No, you cannot run the kiosk exe over an ftp connection. Evidently
the calls to the supporting dlls cannot 'see' them.
