Default Archive Record Fm6 v Fm7 - 08-25-2005 , 07:15 PM

I have an Fm6 Database I am converting to Fm 7. In the Fm6 I had a separate
file for the archived records that I imported into and then deleted the
record in the active file.

In Fm7 should I make my archive a separate file? Or incorporate it as just a
separate table?

Wondering what the best solution is?

Any help much appreciated

Cheers Brad

Separate file in most cases. The idea of an archive is that it only be
open when its needed.

Plus if your database is ever damaged you'll and you want to restore
from backups you won't be dealing with gigantic archives. Or if you
update the system offline and need to reimport, you might not want to
have to reimport all the archive data every time.
