Default Apologies - 05-06-2011 , 06:15 PM

Hi,

Apologies if anyone has been looking for me recently. The usless idiots at
my Vodafone NZ ISP have taken over a month to "fix" their newsserver (with
all the intervening messages lost), and now they're saying their
newsserver will be shutdown completely on 4 June 2011 - yet another
"service" they refuse to provide, but still charge the same over-bloated
monthly price. Xo(

At the moment I haven't got time to spend looking for a decent free
newsserver and set up all my newsgroups again, so I'm not sure when or if
I'll get back to these after the above date.

I switched to eternal-september last year, which is free and has
generally been working fine (apart from a couple of short outages). It
doesn't have binary groups, but I gave up on those many years ago.

Ditto. My ISP stopped providing a newsserver a couple years ago and
I've been happily using the free eternal-september.org ever since.

Vodafone this side of the billabong have been in the mire since last
year; oversold their capacity basically from what I understand; all a
result of an overly effective sale promo. The biggest percentage of
complaints to the ombudsman/govt. authority have been regarding Vodafone.

This has affected mobile phone services as well. I gave up a month ago
after 11 years, and migrated to Telstra.
